- -Stoke survive strong penalty appeal late on
- -Salah chips wide with superb early chance
Live Reporting
Mistake - a missed clearance. Mohamed Salah controls in the box but there is a swarm quickly around him and the danger passes.
Stoke are hanging on. Another Liverpool player falls in the box - Roberto Firmino under pressure from Erik Pieters. They had hands all over each other.
That should be that. Goal kick...
Still we play. Paul Lambert rallies his side. Liverpool fans raise their voices louder. James Milner can shoot but tries to play in Roberto Firmino instead and Erik Pieters clears again.
ONE minute of stoppage time left.
James Milner delivers a cross as the corner is recycled, Georginio Wijnaldum jumps to head on goal but can't direct it on target from about six yards out.
Jordan Henderson shoots from range - it took a deflection - another corner.
James Milner delivers, Ryan Shawcross rises to clear.
Jyri: Incompetence of English refereeing is astounding.
Ibrahim Keshk: Does the ref think all Stoke players are goalkeepers?
Erik Pieters smashes a loose ball up the park. Loris Karius spins it out wide to Alberto Moreno, Stoke retreat. Moritz Bauer with a nervy clearance.
Stoke camped deep. Liverpool pinging the ball from left to right, still Mohamed Salah can't find his best as he reacts slowly to a ball in behind.
Ryan Shawcross with a powerful sliding tackle on James Milner - he wins the ball - that sends the Liverpool man flying. The home side are up in arms.
SIX minutes added on...
Khan Karn: And they say big teams get decisions. As clear a hand ball as any.
Ryan Lloyd: Is Andre Marriner a Chelsea supporter?
Nick Scarlett: How on earth can the linesman miss that handball? Absolutely blatant - shocking. Where is VAR in the League?
Stoke almost find a way! Ryan Shawcross lauches himself at a loose ball at the far post - trying to turn in from the tightest of angles after Mame Biram Diouf's attempt on goal had beaten Loris Karius.
SO, so close for Stoke. Agonising.
Having seen the replay, that really should have been given as a penalty. The officials have missed that one.
Georginio Wijnaldum is in behind, he spins the ball across goal and it strikes Erik Pieters on the arm. Could he avoid it?
Huge shouts for a penalty are waved away though. Roberto Firmino might have latched on but for the deflection off Pieters, Alberto Moreno was stacking up too.
You have to pat Stoke and the manager on the back, they have made it congested in areas Liverpool like to play in, they have stopped Henderson and Milner playing, Firmino normally has more of an impact, Salah hasn't had his way.
Stoke have made it uncomfortable, they have done a good job set up correctly and it seems to have worked.
Still Liverpool come at the home side, the referee almost dispossesses Georginio Wijnaldum on the edge of the box.
Stoke are bearing down on what looked like an unlikely point here. But will it be enough?
Offside as the second of two Liverpool corners is played back in. Stoke hammer the ball up the park. Territory but nothing more.
Zred: Smart way to rest your best player is on the field! Salah hasn’t broke a sweat yet!
Was there ever a better example of 'it's s good time to play X?' This couldn't be better for Stoke could it?
Liverpool fans with ironic cheers as they win a soft free-kick of their own. Stoke retreat all the way back. Virgil van Dijk smashes an effort on goal from about 30 yards out. Corner, it took a deflection.
James Milner penalised for a foul on Darren Fletcher in the middle. Stoke are the stronger now. Kurt Zouma launches a cross from the right wing that Virgil van Dijk booms clear.
JT: Liverpool need to stop relying too much on Salah here, they have drawn far too many games this season. Needs other people to step up to the plate really.
The away side throw men up the park. Alberto Moreno is OK and has to jump high to clear a zippy cross from the left wing.
Ramadan Sobhi keeps the pressure up by winning a deep throw-in.
Both players up on their feet, both hobbling.
Paul Lambert's mind whirls through the possibilities these final 10 minutes hold. A win for Stoke would be absolutely huge.
Ricky LG: For me Jack Butland is the best keeper in the country. He's just a victim of circumstance. Stoke don't belong in the Premier League and he would be awesome at a better club i.e Tottenham!
Erik Pieters fires a deep free-kick up the park. The Stoke defence with a chance to breathe. Alberto Moreno picks up the loose ball and drives brightly forward - he's cleaned out by Badou Ndiaye and both players need treatment.
Jack D: So this is how it feels to watch a game at Old Trafford this season...
David: All the gloom about no depth in the squad... Mane, Matip, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Can all injured. All potential first team players. Liverpool fans have got to stop with the negativity.
Another Liverpool corner as Badou Ndiaye's clearance squirms behind
Under FIFTEEN to play. Virgil van Dijk goes down in the box as the ball comes down from a first clearance - again another soft penalty shout.
Moritz Bauer has to space to attack down the right but he turns back and plays a pass straight to a Liverpool shirt. They're still being patient with it, Liverpool. Very little space for them to work in. Erik Pieters' work on Mohamed Salah has been really impressive - here he stabs in a toe to clear the ball away from the game's most dangerous player once again.
Alberto Moreno then whips in a dangerous cross - Salah the target - and Kurt Zouma manages to steer behind. That could have gone anywhere...
Neil Harris: Really don't see why Ben Woodburn isn't getting twenty minutes, he's the spark this game needs.
You can feel the expectation from the crowd that Liverpool should be winning. they should be walking over teams like Stoke by two or three goals. The Liverpool fans are not happy.
A rare reprieve for the away side as Jack Butland sends his back line up the park and takes over this free-kick almost on the halfway line. He knocks it straight out of play.
Jordan Henderson looks to play in Nathaniel Clyne, the wing-back shaping a late run into the box, but the pass is too long.
Tobias: Stoke shirt pulling, arm pulling, body checking their way to a point at Anfield... Lambert taking them down in traditional Stoke style.
TWENTY minutes to play. Will we see a winner?
Andy Thompson: Liverpool are wisely staying in second gear, no need to kill themselves with a huge game on Wednesday. Stoke will give up a big chance just need to be clinical when they do.
Harry McCrea: This is so dull, fair play Stoke.
It might be one of those days when a Moreno or Klavan or Gomez, it might be one of those that steps up and gets a winning goal. The same for Stoke. The game is in the balance, I can't tell which way it will go.
Dave: Stoke may be doing well to hold at 0-0 but if they go down, they won't be coming back for a while without quite a few signings.
Again the magic is not quite there for Liverpool. Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah get in each other's way as Salah stabs at a cross to bring it down. It spins away from him, but he still turns to fire a shot on goal that is blocked once more.
Alberto Moreno then drives one from range - low and zippy with Jack Butland launching to his left, but always safely wide.
Bernard: Liverpool, how can you do what you did to Man City and Roma yet produce nowt in the league. I'm a Man City fan and I expect the challenge to come from United and Chelsea next year not Liverpool they just make me laugh.
Time for changes:
James Milner and Nathaniel Clyne coming on for Liverpool - Trent Alexander-Arnold and Danny Ings coming off.
Peter Crouch gets an ovation as he is replaced, midfielder Darren Fletcher on in his place for Stoke.
